He gave her an aspirin.
She went back, hopeful.
At the doorstep she fainted,
The aspirin fell out of her mouth.
The neighbour called The Surgeon.
Softly opening her eyes, she saw him,
For the the first time, he was a man.
He was talking, she was smiling.
Suddenly in the OR, The Surgeon lifts the scalpel,
He rips the scalp with his fine hand.
And then her heart rate falls.
Battling for hours with an open scalp,
He finally accepts defeat,
The heart, her heart gets the better of the surgery.
And then for the first time he sees her.
In her deathly glow, he remembers the eyes that were looking,
And he knew that she knew.
